The Roosevelt Island Marlins rank 19th out of 115 swim teams in the metropolitan area (which includes New York City, Westchester, and Long Island). The team also finished the season with three metro medalists after participating in the 8 & Under Championship and the 2017 Junior Olympics Championship.
7-year-old Timur Seliger (pictured left) became a four-time Metro Champion, winning the 100 freestyle, 100IM, 25 breaststroke, and 50 breaststroke at the Metro 8 & Under Championship.
10-year old Strahinja Maslo (pictured right) collected two Metro Champion titles (in 200 free and 500 free), and placed second in overall scoring among boys 10 years and younger at the Junior Olympics.
12-year-old Sophia Seliger (not pictured) also won two medals at the Junior Olympics Championship.
According to Marlins Head Coach Roman Sloudnov, many of the team’s young swimmers also broke numerous club and personal records at the recent competitions as they continue to excel in their personal goals. – Dana Agmon
