New York's largest pride flag, 12 feet by 100 feet, will be unveiled at FDR Four Freedoms Park on June 14. It will adorn the Park's iconic staircase through June 30 in celebration of World Pride. Next Thursday, to celebrate New York born Walt Whitman’s 200th Birthday, Compagnia De' Colombari, an international collective of performing artists, will perform More Or Less I Am (MOLIA), adapted from Whitman's first major work, Song of Myself at the FDR Four Freedoms Park. Conceived and directed by Karin Coonrod with original music by Colin Jacobsen, Kyle Sanna and Eric Jacobsen, Compagnia De' Colombari has been performing MOLIA since 2008.

This Friday another exciting production opens at Main Street Theater and Dance Alliance (MSTDA):  The Theory of Relativity, presented by the teen acting class and directed by longtime MSTDA director Jacqueline Cusick.  The “song cycle” is chock full of songs, scenes and monologues that celebrate our unique, wonderful, and surprisingly interconnected lives. A little rain couldn't stop these egg hunters! After being postponed from 10am to 4pm due to weather, Island kids found 10,000 eggs at Firefighter's Field. For the second year in a row, Hope Church sponsored the event with some help from Island groups including the Roosevelt Island Marlins and the Girl Scouts.

On Saturday April 13, the eighth annual Roosevelt Island Cherry Blossom Festival was held. Like previous years, there was a morning tea ceremony, community picnics and food vendors, a Japanese Cultural Fair, and music and dance performances. The weather could not have been more beautiful.

Despite it being a cold and rainy evening (there were heat lamps!), artists and art lovers assembled in Motorgate last Friday evening to celebrate the unveiling of the 2018 Fall for Arts Festival murals.
