It’s been a busy couple of weeks for our elected representatives that has included important work on gun reform, expanding hate crimes to include transgendered people, and bringing New York into the forefront on reproductive rights. Our electeds consist of Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, State Senator Jose Serrano, Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright, and City Council Member Ben Kallos, all of whom represent Roosevelt Islanders in their various bodies.

Good Shepherd Community Center was overflowing at Monday night’s Town Hall. The event was billed as a presentation on the past, present, and future of Island life and Cornell Tech’s impact on it.

On August 5, in a sold-out free event, Cornell Tech held their Community Day to welcome Islanders to the newly opened campus.

Elected officials lined up to speak at a ceremony on the lawn, while Islanders sampled the catered breakfast, made crafts with kids, posed for a photo booth, and enjoyed the open space.
