In commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of women’s suffrage in New York, and in honor of the brave women who fought for the right to vote and who inspire us to this day, The WIRE is hosting a children's essay contest.
In 500 words or less, tell us about a woman, past or present, famous or unknown, who has inspired you.
All entries must be submitted by November 17.
To submit your entry
BY EMAIL: Please send entries to firstname.lastname@example.org
IN PERSON: Please leave entries in a sealed envelope at 40 River Road, addressed to Briana Warsing.
All entries must include the writer's name, age, grade, and contact information.
No entries will be accepted after November 17, 2018
Winners will be selected in two age groups: third grade and lower, and fourth grade and higher.
Entries will be judged on originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal vision or voice. We will announce winners on our website, on Facebook, and by email. One winner from each group will win a grand prize, including publication in a future issue.
