Here at The Main Street WIRE, we are always seeking strong new voices to tell the Island’s many stories. We take our role as the Island’s community newspaper seriously, and we endeavor to evolve with the Island. The Island is adding a tech center, and thanks to the NYC Ferry service, our borders will soon extend beyond Main Street. We look forward to the new ideas, new people, and the exciting stories about new technology and innovation that will soon be born here.
We want to continue to speak to all of the different communities on the Island, and to tell our local stories, many of which have regional significance. To achieve this, we need more, and new, kinds of voices. We need a diversity of attitudes, orientations, politics, and abilities.
In short, we need you.
Help us find insight into the Island and its history, as well as its possible future. Meet some of the many residents working to solve problems. Explain a new policy. Point out a hypocrisy. Identify a trend. Tell us what your Island life is like.
Help us broaden our reach. When our ferry service commences on August 29, our relationship to Astoria, Long Island City, Midtown East, and Wall Street will become deeper. Help us find the hidden gems, fun activities, and can’t-miss events that will soon be sitting at our fingertips.
And help us maintain our community feeling in a time of change as we welcome our new neighbors, Cornell Tech.
