The February 3 issue of The WIRE carried valuable comments by returned resident, the Rev. Sarah Lenzi. She spoke well of her concern on the state of black/white relations generally, and specifically on the Island.
Two-and-a-half years ago, a small group of black and white Island citizens gathered to assess the state of affairs.
In the course of the discussion, a black member of the group made the point that, in the present state of Island matters, the critical matter was the wall that exists between a growing Asian community and the rest of the Island.
Part of the wall lies in the language barrier, but means need to be created to make the Asian residents feel comfortable with and be a part of Island life. How to do?
