To the Editor:
I hope that many of you had the pleasure of seeing and hearing the musical 1776 at the Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance. It was a triumph of community theatre. There were many beautiful voices on display, accompanied by drums, flute, keyboard, and violin.
Jacqueline Lucid, the director, transported us back in time to those momentous summer days in 18th century Philadelphia where the Declaration of Independence was crafted.
The show’s heart stopper, “Momma Look Sharp,” that closes Act I, was sung hauntingly by young Bryan Cusick, who plays a courier to the Congress. It echoes still.
