To the Editor:
The Roosevelt Island Senior Association (RISA), the 38-year-old membership-based institution on Roosevelt Island, will be holding its annual election for officers and Board of Directors in June. Nominations are now open through the end of May for individuals who wish to have their voices heard in the community and make a meaningful contribution.
The present officers have worked diligently over the past two years to revitalize the organization. RISA is a vibrant, active, renewed not-for-profit organization with a neighborhood perspective for active adults 50+, offering a variety of weekly fitness classes, themed events, social gatherings, monthly lectures, trips and, recently, an exciting eight-week genealogy pilot workshop. We are letting active older adults simplify their lifestyles while simultaneously enriching them.
Being a part of RISA means more for the members: more lectures, more freedom, more opportunities to travel, more financial savings, more fun, more friends, and more life satisfaction. Our mission remains to empower people – intellectually, creatively, and emotionally.
RISA is seeking talented and conscientious leaders to fill the position of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and additional board members to lead and strengthen the organization.
If you can contribute your time, thoughtfulness, and leadership, and are interested in joining us, contact Barbara Parker at email@example.com.
Nominations will be held at the RISA general membership meeting, on Monday, April 30, at 7:00 p.m., in the Senior Center at 546 Main Street.
