February 11, 2019

Looking for a job without a long commute? We understand; the tram work started, it's cold out; and it would be nice to red-bus it to work. Lucky for you, there are a lot of options here on Roosevelt Island.

Starbucks is hiring a for both a barista as well as a shift supervisor. The shift supervisor requires one year of retail or customer service experience. Working for Starbucks has its benefits; healthcare, education and metro cards, along with a free pound of coffee or a box of tea per week as well as a 30% discount on store merchandise.

The Cafe at Cornell Tech is hiring for a bunch of different positions. They are looking for two line cooks, here and here. The only difference between the two jobs is the shift you'd be working.

They are also seeking a part-time cafe attendant and a dishwasher

Cornell Tech has job listings too. If you're looking to work at the Jacobs-Technion Cornell Institute, they currently are currently hiring a professor of practice in data science, machine learning and  are also looking for senior and junior tenure track faculty positions.

At Cornell Tech proper, there are six academic career openings. There is one open Cornell Tech staff position, digital communications assistant, who would serve on the external relations team on the campus.

Bright Horizons is looking for an assistant toddler teacher. You need to demonstrate a passion for childcare and have a GED or high school diploma and be able to meet state licensing requirements.

The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation also has some job opportunities. They are seeking a director of information technology. This role will bring structure and alignment to RIOC's existing information systems and technology and be responsible for management of projects, support and maintenance of existing applications, infrastructure, telecommunication, CCTV system and supervision of departmental staff members.

They are also looking for an experienced human resources generalist to join their HR Team. This person would provide leadership and support in functional areas of human resources including recruitment, employee and labor relations, employee performance, benefits administration, employee development and payroll administration.

Finally, they are seeking to fill the position recently vacated by Alonza Roberston, public information officer. The candidate would serve as the link between RIOC, the media, and other government entities. The PIO supports the President/CEO, the Corporation's management team and staff in formulating internal and external communications.
